WISE, the International Convention for Careers in Sports, releases its activities’ programme

Dedicated workshops, networking lunches and education seminar

Lausanne, Switzerland, April 2, 2015 – With a bit over one month to go, WISE – Work In Sports Exhibition is very pleased to unveil its programme of additional activities and workshops for the Convention’s second edition to be held in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 6-7 May 2015.

Besides the full 2-day programme of conferences comprising more than 70 well-known speakers and 24 sessions, an attractive list of activities with 18 workshops and 2 networking lunches has been revealed.

NETWORKING, CAREER TRANSITION AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT SERIES OF WORKSHOPS - How Good Is Your Image? – Hints and Tips for Athletes, Students and Sport Professionals : participants will learn how to get their message across (Public Speaking, Social Media, etc.). Here athletes as well as leaders of today and tomorrow will share their experiences and learn the do’s and don’ts from our expert.

- IOC Athletes Career Programme – Adecco : Patrick Glennon, Senior Vice President for the IOC & IPC Athlete Career Programme, Adecco will moderate this interactive workshop aimed at athletes in career transition.

- Networking Sessions Participants/Exhibitors : conference attendees will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with 12 selected speakers for 5 minutes for a 1 hour period. This format will concentrate the network into a dedicated time and space. A draw will be organised to select the attendees!

- Entrepreneurship & Sport – Irish FA Case Study : presentation of the Irish FA Enterprise Challenge, a project that uses football to engage school children in a fun and interactive learning environment improving their understanding of key subjects within the education curriculum, but also promoting good relations amongst their peers, celebration of cultural diversity, increased self-esteem and confidence, improved communication and organizational skills.

- SportAccord MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) : SportAccord will present its Sport Academy and allow member organisations and WISE participants to experience the SportAccord MOOC; free subscription to a selected MOOC will be offered to each participant!

- Academic Corner : meet the academic institutions presenting their programmes in a dedicated room/stage.

- Leadership Lessons From The Transamerica Bicycle Trail – Positive Principles for Success : Pierre Lienhard uses stories from his unsupported journey across the United States of America to illustrate ways to achieve your goals and succeed in a changing environment. In this open session, participants will discuss skills and strengths developed throughout the sporting career such as committing to a goal, preparing thoroughly, believing in success and adapting to change.

- Athlete Reconversion & Life Project 360° : during these workshops the athletes will cover the following topics: the sporting career, acquiring education and skills, the next step. They will also learn how to prepare a new “Life Project” by answering the questions Where, What, and With Whom?

- Branding And Intellectual Property : WISE Forum Partner Novagraaf will present a case study on intellectual property and branding and demonstrate the advantages of thinking about the brand and IP in the planning stages.

- Athlete’s Individual Provident : athletes in different sports have totally different retirements to look forward to. In this workshop, Trianon explains sport retirement benefit plan specific to athletes and provide scenarios for different groups of people within the sports world.

- The Future of Sponsorship (TBC) : presentation by the winning team at the first-ever Sports Consulting Challenge (sports marketing contest) that is put on by Sports Business Consulting, a consulting agency created by students, for their peers who aspire to have a career in the sports industry environment.

NETWORKING LUNCHES On each day, participants will have the opportunity of booking a spot at the selected “WISE Networking Lunch”. This will allow extended contact opportunities for and with leaders of the sports industry through dedicated networking seated lunches as the WISE Forum speakers of the day will also be invited.

EDUCATION SEMINARS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ISSUL In addition to this, it is also possible to register for two exclusive education seminars, organised in conjunction with ISSUL (Institute of Sports Sciences of the University of Lausanne) : Seminar for Leaders of Sports Organisations and Seminar for Elite Athletes.
